I vacillate between uncut kai and funi. I don't speak Japanese and am usually doing something when I watch TV, so I can't stare at the subs the whole time. I do love the Japanese voices though! |

I'm not sure what "remastered dub" is supposed to mean. The "remastered" orange brick sets had a few re-recorded lines during seasons 1 and 2, and the dialogue in general for a lot of those is relatively new from FUNimation and made for the "Ultimate Uncut" editions a few years back (to replace what was originally recorded by the Ocean group). So if that's what they mean, then while it may be somewhat new, it's not really any better or worse than the original dub material, and I'm as confused as you why either one would be any different in people's eyes. If they mean the new Kai dub, then it's INFINITELY better than anything before it, because it's actually accurate, well-acted, and had some much-needed cast revisions. |

Vegeta had some great speeches and lines in the Funi dub in the Boo Saga, hopefully they can do the same for Kai

I don't know how someone could ever prefer old Funi over Kai unless it's for nostalgic reasons, or they just have a stick up their butt when it comes to Gohan's new voice. All of the new voices are vastly superior in my opinion, but I can see why Gohan's may tick some people off since it's so drastically different (even though it is more realistic and doesn't sound like a chain smoker). |

I think we should just all accept that this is all subjective. At the very end there's no "better" than the other. But I will say that I appreciate every single piece of DBZ material that there is out there. I'll watch it all without a problem. Sometimes I feel like watching it in Japanese and getting really deep into it. Other times I'll watch the Funi version even without the subs. As long as I have my DBZ I'm happy. I think I'm a true enough fan to love it all. |

That's probably it. I'm guessing the guy from earlier meant original Funimation Z from TV > remastered Funimation "orange brick" sets. I would think the remastered sets would be > than the original because well, it's "remastered". I never could really identify the difference. Except for the earlier seasons but aside from that, I couldn't tell the difference. This is true. My inner kid feels happy when I watch the old Funi Z. 日本語のが好きだよ!!! Yeah, I like the Japanese version better, though Kai dub Freeza will always have a place in my heart. |

Chris Ayres being cast as Freeza is easily in the Top 5 greatest things to ever happen to Dragon Ball in the western world. Possibly #1. |

Season 1 and 2 didn't just have "a few re-recorded lines". They were both redubbed entirely by the Funi cast while they had previously been done by Ocean. And by remastered dub I meant the entire dub included on the Orange Bricks. That includes the full redub of Seasons 1 and 2 and the partial redub of Seasons 3-9 which had some characters left as they were but others redubbed. @Metabee A lot of people actually prefer the way the old dub looks to the remastered look of the Orange Bricks. I still love the Orange Bricks for the Bruce Faulconer music and the remastering doesn't bother me but it does bother some people. Also here is a comparison video highlighting the differences between Funi;s original dialogue and their redubbed dialogue from Season 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwwTD4ql9ak Anyway I agree with those that say the Kai dub is more accurate and better acted than any dub before it but to me that doesn't automatically make it better. I watch DBZ for pure enjoyability and the Funi Z dub does that for me better than any other version. Edited by 90sDBZ, Oct 25 2013, 04:11 PM.

Okay. I liked the redub better. Though I wish they would've redubbed the whole Freeza saga. I dislike how they sounded so stiff, and how Freeza's voice sounded in his final form. They should've redubbed him how he sounded later on. During Freeza saga Later on Edited by ObsessiveFanBoy, Oct 26 2013, 04:11 AM.

I'm with you 100%. A dub can have a better script and overall acting, but you can still prefer a different one based on how well the VA's fit their roles (which is why Oceaan Group with the 2nd Goku VA is my favorite). I feel the same way about the old Akira dub with TMNT voices, actually.
